In the lovely city of Tokat, Turkey, our group of educators and teachers gathered for a very interesting Erasmus+ mobility experience. From December 11 to 13, partners of the “Future Classrooms’ Leadership” project immersed themselves in a whirlwind of learning and collaboration, exploring the transformative power of new technologies and their impact on modern educational landscapes.
The convergence of these educators, representing different educational backgrounds and skills, has fostered a dynamic environment of knowledge exchange and innovation. It was a very good opportunity to analyze the innovation aspects of the “Future Classrooms’ Leadership” project. Together, they delved into the complexities of integrating cutting-edge technologies into their classrooms, seeking innovative approaches to improve student engagement and foster deeper learning experiences.

The visits to the schools “Milli Piyango İhya Balak Fen Lisesi” and “Tokat Yeşilırmak Vocational Highschool” were truly interesting. The focus on technology was not merely about adopting new tools; it was about embracing the transformative potential of these tools to reshape the very essence of pedagogical practices. By exploring the latest advancements in virtual reality, augmented reality, and personalized learning platforms, the educators discovered boundless possibilities for enhancing student engagement and empowering them to become active participants in their own learning journey.
Beyond the technical aspects, the last mobility of the “Future Classrooms’ Leadership” project emphasized the crucial role of educator training in navigating the ever-evolving technological landscape. The participants engaged in workshops and discussions that equipped them with the skills and knowledge necessary to integrate technology effectively into their teaching methodologies.

The collaborative spirit that permeated the mobility experience was palpable. Educators from different countries shared their unique experiences, teaching styles, and perspectives, fostering a spirit of mutual learning and inspiration. This cross-cultural exchange enriched their understanding of teaching practices, opening their eyes to new approaches and perspectives that could be adapted to their own classrooms.
Great importance was also given to the analysis of the dissemination activities and the preparation of the final report. The partners are committed to analyzing needs and studying the prospects of these methodologies in teaching.
The Erasmus+ mobility to Tokat undoubtedly served as a catalyst for change, inspiring educators to embrace the transformative power of technology and reimagine their pedagogical approaches. As these educators return to their respective classrooms, they carry with them not just new tools but also a renewed sense of purpose, driven to revolutionize the learning landscape and empower their students to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.

The training “ Gamification in the classroom” took place on 6-10 September 2023 in Poland. The training was hosted by the Irena Szewińska Public Elementary School No. 4 in Pułtusk. The main objective of the ‘Gamification in the classroom’ training course was to familiarize participants with the concept of gamification, good examples of gamification and its use in education. During the course, participants learnt the key elements of effective implementation of pedagogical principles of fun and games so that learning is inspiring. In addition, the challenges of using gamification in educational environments were discussed. The training proved to be an inspiration , as well as a glimpse into the future of education.

The training started with a warm welcome from the principal of the host school, warm up exercises and an introduction to the training programme. The practical workshops were led by our amazing trainer Anna Poplawska-Skibniewska. The first workshop referred to gamification theory and why it should be used in the classroom. The other parts of the workshop dealt with digital tools, useful apps and websites that support gamification. In addition, the Breakout Edu & Educational Escape workshop with ideas for game development concluded the first day of the content-based training.

On the next training day in Pultusk, in addition to the topic of gamification, the use of artificial intelligence was also discussed. During this training day, all participants learned how to combine a powerful tool such as artificial intelligence with the concept of gamification to make learning more attractive and, above all, enjoyable! How can artificial intelligence help personalize the learning process? How to gamify lessons using artificial intelligence? How to design an educational game using artificial intelligence? These and other questions were answered by trainer Beata Hejne, who conducted three inspiring workshops referring to artificial intelligence, the future of teaching and learning and the latest tools and trends in AI. A wonderful experience and a real contact with nature was a gondola cruise on the Narew River, which concluded the second training day.

The third training day was also full of positive experiences and the acquisition of new skills. We started the day with a visit to the Municipal Office in Pultusk and a meeting with the Mayor. The meeting was held in a very friendly atmosphere, exchanging experiences and looking at Pultusk from a different perspective. The training programme also included a visit to Irena Szewińska’s Public Primary School No. 4 in Pultusk. An interesting and practical experience for the participants was a workshop entitled: “Educational Gamification and Game-Based Learning”. It should be mentioned that part of the workshop was the observation of lessons using gamification, modern technologies and rewards from intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. A performance prepared by the school’s students entitled: ‘The Little Prince’ was an extremely valuable experience. The students showed how drama can be used to tell a beautiful story and how to combine music with dance, emotion with gesture and set design. We ended this fruitful training day with a guided tour of Pultusk.

The next day of our LTTA training “Gamification in the classroom” started with a workshop: ” Reflections on Kirkpatrick and Sweller’s theory”, led by Beata Hejne. We then travelled to Toruń, one of the most beautiful historical cities in Poland. All participants were delighted with the beauty of the place. In addition, they very much enjoyed the legends told by the guide.
On the last training day, we openly shared our final insights on gamification. Finally, the moment came to conclude the training programme with a certificate ceremony.

All partners prepared Country reports based on technological needs analyses by visiting local institutions and centers. Identification of training needs was crucial for nurturing an educational sector that contributes to teacher/trainer’ and professors’ professional efficiency as well as a sustainable and well-managed 21st-century classroom.

The prepared questionnaires were completed by 160 people from target groups. According to the results, there is a demand for training in a wide variety of areas but leadership skills, teaching, and classroom competencies remain to be the most frequent areas of demand.

Most of the teachers noticed no concrete training was provided in the 21st classroom environment and management. According to the target groups, they improved their skills with good quality modern ICT equipment.

There were indicated needed areas for using technology:

  • Ways to use technology to communicate and collaborate with families on school programs and students’ learning
  • Performance-based students’ assessment of my students
  • Research-based practices I can use in my teaching
  • Identification, location, and evaluation of technology resources, e.g., websites, that I can use with my students
  • Learner-centered teaching strategies that incorporate technology, e.g., project-based or cooperative learning
  • Online security and safety

The training “Use of e-learning platforms and open-source multimedia tools in education and digitization” was held on 24-27 April 2023, Skopje/Ohrid, N.Macedonia. For 5 days, the Future Classrooms Leadership project partners were provided with intensive training on the use of e-learning platforms and the inclusion of technological tools in education. The aim was also to create ready-to-use materials and practical ideas to support schools in the field of e-learning. During the first day of activities, the participants focused on discussing the methodology and methods of distance learning.

  • course planning – schedule of activities, calendar, management of users,
  • user services and user groups of the course;
  • work with existing files and educational content;
  • checking the knowledge and evaluating the users;
  • numerous tools for communication and collaboration between users;
  • system management – backups, statistics, logs, etc.

The agenda was fulfilled with extremely productive, collaborative, and enjoyable activities for the third and the fourth day of Macedonian LTT training (26-27.04.2023). The days were filled with practical workshops on creating online courses and quizzes, as well as multimedia creation using open-source software.
